Sometimes I like to sharpen my mind a little (only just) with a math article or two, to see how little I remember calculus from high school and college. And, in RH, there is an important sequence of numbers called : the moments of the Riemann zeta function. Taken on February 25, 2008; 459 Views. I understand that the zeta function for Re(s)> 1 is defined as the sum from one to infinity of 1/n^s. Progress towards establishing the Riemann hypothesis could be viewed in terms of giving tighter limits on Re(s). But right in the middle there is a discussion of Bernhard Riemann's zeta function, which in my (albeit layman's understanding) is concerned with predicting the distribution of prime numbers. If we can't yet say for sure that Re(s) = 1/2 for all s such that ζ(s) = 0, what can we say? What are the attempts to prove that all values of $t$ are irrational? I'm not savvy with Tex, so work with me here. How do I work out a formula for Re(s)< 1, and more importantly, Re(s)<0? Namely, articles like this one. Primes also have a link to quantum phenomena via the Riemann Zeta function. + Add Ethan Hein Ethan Hein Member since 2007. My latest math work links prime numbers to the Pareto distribution. This function is linked to many phenomena in nature. The subject of Prime Obsession is the Riemann Hypothesis, which states that the non-trivial zeros of Riemann's zeta function are half part real. ]Is there some philosophy about it? (numbers and quote taken from here).
